Jewelry Care

We want your jewelry to keep in great colour and shape for years to come. Here are our tips on how to care for your Purnama & the Stones jewelry.

  • A good rule of thumb: put your jewelry on last (after makeup, perfume, body lotion, sunscreen etc.) before you leave home, and take it off first thing when you get home.
  • Keep your jewelry away from water, lotions/creams, perfume, sweat and other liquids. If your piece gets wet, wipe it dry.
  • Avoid swimming, bathing or showering with jewelry on. (On 18K gold plated jewelry, contact with moisture can dull the shine. On 925 Sterling Silver, contact with moisture can induce tarnishing and make the piece darker)
  • Store your piece in your Purnama & the Stones pouch and avoid keeping them close to object that can scratch and harm them. Particular care should be taken with gemstones to ensure that they do not knock against one another when stored. Always separate gold from silver. Avoid storing your jewelry in particular in a humid place - especially the bathroom. Humidity will speed up tarnishing, so keep them in a  cool, dark and dry spot.
  • If your jewelry oxidizes/tarnishes, you can scrub the tarnish away gently with a toothbrush, warm water and a mild soap. Wipe it dry once done. There is no need for chemical-based cleaning solutions. Stay away from jewelry cleaners and antibacterial soaps which may have certain components that will just make your jewelry tarnish more quickly.
  • Sleeping with your jewelry can damage it. Give your jewelry some space when going to bed.
